Italian Stucco Plaster

Italian stucco plaster is a fine set plaster technique. Application is created using particular trowels and/or stainless steel spatulas. It can be traced to the days of Raphael and Michelangelo. Original polished stucco is comprised of natural products including lime, milk, whiting (cuttlefish bone), marble dust and limestone. It is a non toxic finish. Today the material has been modified for practical reasons. The final finish is burnished with a steel trowel and often waxed for a high polish.
