Gold Leaf Gilding
Yesterday I spent the day at the cemetery Gold Leaf Gilding a tombstone.
Quite a challenge with gusting wind and garden sprinklers but it all worked out wonderfully!
Step 1 scraping loose leaf and varnish out of the lettering.
Step 2 using tinted exterior undercoat.
Step 3 applying oil based goldsize (glue) delicately where gold is to be applied.
Step 4 applying the leaf and gently rubbing it into the lettering polishing gently with a soft brush and remove excess.
