This traditional fire place at Graythwaite had damaged slate. We matched it up to the fire place in the room next door and the result was stunning. Hand painted marble finish with 5 layers. Completed with two coats of an oil based marine varnish.

Hand painted stencil to match existing heritage pattern. All the colours for the stencil had to be hand mixed to try and match up the exact colours after ageing and ruin.

Mr Wong Restaurant
The Mural subject was chosen by Justin and Bettina Hemmes.
The women was a famous chinese star , Zhou Xuan, The image was based on a fair amount of research and Murray Parsonage and Kris Zimitat were chosen to complete the works.
Zhou Xuan, also romanized as Chow Hsuan, was an iconic Chinese singer and film actress. By the 1940s, she had become one of China’s seven great singing stars.
Residential – Internal finish, stucco veneziano plaster finish
“gunmetal blue” three coats of imported fine Italian plaster.
Strongly burnished with stainless steel trowel , followed by Eucalyptus wax polish.
High buff to create mirror like quality and water repellant.
The plaster has a natural oil in it which keeps the plaster creamy and manuable.

This finish is a complex 5 step finish.
Using water based paints throughout with low VOC output as the client requested the least amount of allergic vapours.
The final coat is a Porters Duchess satin shimmer that was applied in a very gentle cross hatch across the completed wall. When seen in different light the wall has a subtle pearlescent shimmer.

Residential
Marble finish – Hand painted finish applied with acrylic water based paint and gel medium, three coats of veining to create depth. Water based Resene multi shield varnish, satin sheen.
Gilding was completed in dutch metal and two coats of white shellac to seal the gold.
Cornices – Masked and sprayed gold finish with aerosol gold. Highly skilled work by colleague Charles Woods.

Example of ceiling gilding. 23 carat gold applied to the cornices. Detailed work with the advantage that 23 carat gold will not oxidise the way that dutch metal does.

Ceiling Rose: Application of 23 carat gold to match the cornices. Water based gold size applied to specific areas of decorative ceiling ornament.
Gold then applied with care to give an elegant difference.
